Please find information below on a career fair sponsored by the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). The fair is open to government employees and their spouses and active duty, retired, former service, Reserve/National Guard Service members. Over 300 companies participated in the 2009 event.

DC United Soccer Game on May 15
Please join the Josef Korbel D.C. Alumni Group for a D.C. United vs. Colorado Rapids Soccer Game! on May 15th!
The game begins at 7:30 PM, but please join us after 4:30 PM in the Josef Korbel tailgating tent.
In order to purchase group tickets and secure the tent we must have a firm RSVP list by April 1. We encourage you to invite your friends and family. To guarantee your participation you must remit payment to the Josef Korbel D.C. Alumni Group using the Pay Pal system. To make payment, visit www.paypal.com. You can either login or make payment as a new user. You will enter in heatherlanigan@gmail.com as the recipient and provide your banking or credit card information.
If the event is canceled you will be refunded your payment. If you are unable to attend, we will issue refunds until April 30th.

International Career Advancement Program (ICAP)
Here is some information on an excellent International Career Advancement Program (ICAP) sponsored by the Josef Korbel School of International Studies and the Aspen Institute.
September 25-October 3, 2010
Aspen, Colorado
The Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver, and the Aspen Institute invite applications for the International Career Advancement Program (ICAP) for 2010. ICAP will bring together mid-career professionals from groups underrepresented in leadership positions in international affairs with senior officials, faculty and staff to spend one week discussing:
* Major international issues to be faced during the next decade;
* The credentials and experiences normally sought for senior leadership positions;
* The importance of diversity if US interests are to be served adequately;
* Career issues or problems and how they can be addressed;
* Obstacles faced by those seeking advancement and how to overcome them; and
* Programs and policies designed to increase diversity at senior levels
The purpose of ICAP is to help bring higher quality and greater diversity to the staffing of senior management and policy-making positions in international careers in the US, both governmental and private. The aim is to assist highly promising mid-career professionals advance to more senior positions in international affairs. Those selected for the program pay for their own travel and must pay a $200 registration fee but their room, meals and program expenses in Aspen are provided by the program. Applicants should:
* Have a demonstrated commitment to increasing the quality and diversity of senior leadership in the US in international affairs;
* Be US citizens or permanent residents;
* Be professionals who have been or are now in international careers, with 3 to 15 years of working experience;
* Have a demonstrated interest in a long-term career in international affairs;
* Have credentials and achievements that indicate potential for the highest levels of leadership; and
* Be committed to providing support for their peers and mentoring those junior to them

InsideNGO workshops schedule for 2010
It's not too early to start filling the dates on your new 2010 desk calendar, and professional organization InsideNGO has some suggestions.
Their offerings run the gamut from general skills acquisition (leadership, facilitation) to specific training for USAID contract administrators. If you are in DC and looking for work, the $150 fee for a Young Professionals Forum won't set you back too much. If you are employed and have educational benefits to spend, you could consider a workshop taking place in a more exotic location.

DU Hockey and Fat Tire in DC
From the hot tip department: It would appear certain local DU alumni elements have designated a bar at which to watch the DU Pioneers take on the Colorado College Tigers on Friday, December 4th. Pre-game begins at 9 pm at the Penn Quarter Sports Tavern. Our information indicates pints of Fat Tire will be served. All are welcome.

UPDATE: Several members of the DC alumni steering committee visited the Penn Quarter Sports Tavern last night (12/1/2009) and the staff there professed no knowledge of this upcoming event or Fat Tire. Lowered expectations are probably in order.
